A new study of cats, which had been fed exclusively chicken as kittens, shows their kidneys were able to detoxify ammonia. As ammonia is a chemical by-product of protein digestion, it is often present in diets for cats, but cats are not particularly good at metabolizing ammonia and may end up with too much in their system. In a study published today in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers from the University of California, Davis, fed a total of 42 cats one of three diets for four weeks: a commercial feline diet, one that was completely vegetarian, and one that was 30% vegetarian. Cats fed the vegetarian diets had significantly lower ammonia concentrations than cats fed the other diets. The scientists also found that the vegetarian diet was more difficult for cats to digest. This may be because it contains less easily digestible protein (lower in lysine and methionine). To compensate, the cats fed the vegetarian diet required more dietary protein, which in turn resulted in higher ammonia concentrations. The researchers suggest that providing a vegetarian diet will prevent cats from developing kidney damage, while allowing their kidneys to metabolize ammonia, and reduce ammonia-related problems. More research is needed to determine how long the effects of feeding a vegetarian diet will last.

I had always heard that cats were omnivores, but I had always assumed that this meant they ate meat and that was all. I was very surprised to read that I was wrong about that. I’m going to have to start paying a lot more attention to what I’m feeding my cat.

I found this page as I was googling information on my cat and she has been getting this problem for a while now. I’m glad to hear that the vegetarian diet is a viable option, and I will have to try it out.

As for your cat, it might have a few things going on. It may be in poor health, as she has had the kidney problems for awhile. She could be anemic because she doesn’t eat enough (or at all) food. Her liver could be failing because it doesn’t process ammonia. She may have an underlying issue that I’m not aware of. However, my cats are generally healthy, so I’m going to have to take it as it is.

I had heard cats could eat vegetarian diets. The cat was actually eating grass but she stopped when we switched her to the veg diet. I’ll see if she starts back up with eating again, if not it will be good for us because she is still eating grass. I’m sure the meat diet gave her the health issues she’s having.

I’ve been feeding my two cats a 100% vegan diet for 2 years now. They are both doing great and are both healthy as horses. I don’t think it would be harmful for them to go vegan for even longer than that, but I don’t want to kill the fun of eating meat for them. I have noticed that they do not appear to get as much protein as they do from meat. They will eat meat and will eat other foods that they should be eating, just not a lot of it. If you are going to feed them vegan, I’d suggest that you keep protein levels low in the diet so that your cat gets the adequate protein that he/she needs. Also, make sure that you give them their calcium and iron needs. I just buy the supplements from my local pet store.

I’m a cat person. Not a cat person in particular. But the kind of cat person who buys their cat a “cat condo” to live in. A cat condo that contains a litter box, an over-sized food bowl, a cat tree, and of course the cat. I’m a cat person, and I buy my cat things. And I would be the worst person ever if I didn’t. The cat I own now has a condo, and I’ve bought her all the “things.” That’s my kitty. She’s like my daughter. I give her lots of treats, toys, and love.

However, I don’t want to live with her. I think it would be too much for her. I mean, she has a condo and everything, but she would be really uncomfortable if I lived with her. She needs quiet, space, and peace. I think a lot of people have that problem when it comes to their cats. I think we think that if our cats have everything they need, we don’t need to worry about them. But if they have everything they need, they won’t need us. They’ll just go away and be fine on their own.

So, I don’t live with her. I don’t have a cat condo. But I would like to. I have a “cat condo” in mind, and when I find something, I’ll share it here. In the meantime, check out this website if you’d like to know more about cat condos:

I’ve always thought that cats were a very good choice for pets and that’s why they are so popular. I was told many years ago that there was a big difference between cats and dogs, but I was never told that it was mostly due to health differences. It is great to know that I was right.

I have always thought
